What is depression?
Depression, also called major depressive disorder, is a persistent low mood or loss of interest that lasts for weeks or months and interferes with functioning. It is one of the most common mental health conditions and, importantly, one of the most treatable.
Depression is not a character flaw or something to simply will away. It involves changes in brain function, and it responds to structured treatment.
